John and Ellen Fisher started Blue Fish Distillery in 2014. A former mechanical engineer, John had always been curious about the distillation process. In fact, his first foray into distilling was in high school when John and a friend tried making moonshine using a process they found in a library book.
Years later during a business trip to China, John purchased a blown-glass still because he thought it was "pretty cool". So when John was ready for a career change, he and Ellen decided to make his distilling dream a reality. The name? Well, that was a no-brainer.
"Blue Fish works on several levels" explains John. It pays tribute to my grandmother, it plays on our last name, and it ties into my other passion - sailing.
Why Blue Fish
It all started with an empty bottle.
Distilling By Design:
Creating the Perfect Beverage
Just like manufacturing products, making great spirits relies heavily on perfecting the process. We love creating each spirit—cultivating just the right taste and mix of ingredients at each stage. But what we love most is seeing the reaction people have when they try it for the first time. It’s incredibly rewarding.
Our spirits are distilled using a grain-to-glass process. That means we mix the raw ingredients, ferment, distill and bottle all of our products right here at the distillery. We believe the personal touch makes Blue Fish spirits taste better.
John has created a variety of high-quality products, all handmade at this nano-distillery. Currently, the Blue Fish product line includes Vodka, Rum, Pike’s Peak Clear (moonshine), Whiskeys, and a Blue Agave Spirit.
In addition to making the cuts on spirit runs, Ellen has crafted the best pairings for those of you that prefer your tastes to be mixed with juice or soda in the tasting room.
John hand crafts our small batch, unique spirits that are a reflection of his careful attention to detail. You'll want to impress your friends with his spirits.
Melissa will delight you with our spirits and share her extensive experience in crafting classic cocktails as well as more creative concoctions.
